A Diversified Approach

Mission Zero

Since the launch of the RX 400h in 2005, the world’s first luxury hybrid sport utility vehicle, Lexus has pioneered electrification in the luxury automotive market. In late 2021, we revealed the first look at a futuristic new model, the Lexus RZ. The Z stands for Zero and represents our goal to create clean-powered vehicles that produce no CO2 emissions throughout the whole process of their use. Our host of electrified products is now expanding and evolving to support a variety of drivers in a large step forward towards an even greater goal. Lexus aims to switch all of our worldwide vehicles to battery-electric vehicles (BEVs) by 2035.

On a Global Scale

In the last few decades, Lexus has been making significant strides in its electrified evolution. As the environmental outcry grows louder, Lexus continues to return with an enhanced focus on sustainable mobility and reducing environmental impact. “I believe that achieving carbon neutrality means realizing a world in which all people living on this planet continue to live happily,” Lexus President Akio Toyoda explained to a global audience last December. “We want to help realize such a world…for that challenge, we need to reduce CO2 emissions as much as possible, as soon as possible.”
