Lexus LS 500 Hybrid Features Underrated And Understated Luxury

The Lexus LS 500h is one of the most understated and underrated luxury vehicles in the world. Being a Lexus, you already know it is one of the most comfortable and well-thought-out cars in the luxury segment.
History of The Lexus LS
Ever since its North American debut in 1989, the Lexus LS has been the pinnacle of ultimate luxury without having to yell it from the rooftops. Remember the commercials with a Lexus LS 400 on a rolling dyno doing 140 mph with all of the champagne glasses on the hood? Not only was that brilliant marketing, it has been tried more times since then to complete success. The narrator of the advertisement says, “The Lexus LS 400 is designed to stir the soul… and not much else.”
That quote still applies to the Lexus LS Hybrid of today. It will not be the fastest sedan on the market, nor will it be the flashiest. However, it will be one of the most reliable, soothing, and enjoyable luxury cars to live with for the next 10 years.
Powertrain
The LS Hybrid features standard All-wheel drive and is powered by a 3.5-liter V-6 that makes 295 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque by itself. Then they add an Atkinson-cycle Lexus Multistage Hybrid system with permanent-magnet synchronous AC motors, which produce 177 horsepower and 221 lb-ft of torque. The combined horsepower output is 354. All of this is mated to both a CVT and a conventional 4-speed automatic transmission, which is to make the car feel less like an everyday hybrid and instead have the transmission feel more like a dual-clutch and more engaging.
Fuel Economy
The EPA estimated fuel economy for the LS 500h is 22 mpg city and 29 mpg highway, respectively. That’s similar fuel mileage to that of an economy crossover, but the LSh has heaps of luxury.

Top Notch Safety
Safety has always been a priority for Lexus, and the LSh is no different. With standard Lexus Safety System+ 2.5, which features Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection, Automatic High Beams, Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist, Lane Tracing Assist, Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, Blind Spot Monitor with Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Emergency Steering Assist, Curve Speed Management, and Road Sign Assist.
