The Lexus RC

The Lexus RC is a modern interpretation of the classic coupes from our past. The RC was designed and engineered from the onset to offer superb performance, adaptive dynamics, and a driver-focused cabin. The result is a sports coupe designed with the enthusiast in mind.

Design

The RC’s long hood design starts with Lexus’ signature spindle grille. This is luxuriously crafted onto a body that is the embodiment of the classic coupe. The lines may be modern, but the silhouette is not. The taut design incorporates two wide doors for access inside, a trunk to put your luggage in, condensed lighting units that pave the way day and night – including available twin projector LED headlamps – and a stance that is ready for action anytime.

Step inside a cabin made for four people. Seats range from supple Aniline leather to sport seating with perforated leather. Selecting the F Sport package in the RC introduces another dimension in this sports coupe. The F Sport has a cabin that enhances driver focus with a heavily-bolstered seat design and accents befitting a true sports machine. The dashboard is crafted with accents that are coordinated with the color of the upholstery, including several available wood trims. Instrumentation is straightforward with a customizable information screen for trip and vehicle readouts. Choosing the F Sport will get an LFA-inspired TFT instrument cluster that is designed to quicken the pulse by looking at it. An available touchpad-controlled screen is the hub for audio functions, a navigation system and the connection to Lexus Enform for directions and the use of smartphone apps.

The Lexus RC F

The RC F is the ultimate expression of this coupe. It is designed for the track as well as the road. It has a 5.0-liter naturally aspirated V8 with 467 horsepower, good for a 0-60MPH time of 4.4 seconds and a top speed of 168MPH. Channeling this power is an eight-speed Sport Direct Shift transmission, designed to work this power through the torque curve. A TORSEN Limited-Slip differential catches all of this power at the rear wheels. For more rear wheel performance, an available Torque Vectoring Differential provides maximum drive to the wheels. Brembo provides the stopping power on the RC F. Inside the RC F, there are racing-style seats are designed to lock in the body, ensuring the driver has focus on the road and his or her vehicle. The driver will also notice an LFA-inspired, RC F-specific TFT Dynamic Gauge Cluster that is designed to quicken the pulse by looking at it. Outside, the RC F gets a more dynamic nose with a deeper spindle grille, a three-bulb LED headlamp system, active air flow throughout, an active rear spoiler, and a diffuser with four exhaust ports.

Your Choice: Turbo or V6?

The RC 300 is available with two engines. Rear-wheel drive models get a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine putting out 241 horsepower with an eight-speed direct shift automatic transmission. Select the all-wheel-drive RC 300, and you are upgraded to a 3.5-liter V6 with 260 horsepower.

The RC 350 offers a 3.5-liter V6 engine with 311 horsepower. This engine can get the RC 350 from 0-60 MPH in 5.8 seconds. Rear-wheel drive models offer an eight-speed automatic transmission. All AWD models are equipped with a six-speed automatic transmission.

To enhance the driving experience, a drive mode selector knob can switch the RC from Eco to Sport, depending on the kind of driving desired. F Sport and the RC F models get the Sport S+ setting, where engine, transmission, steering and suspension dampening are dialed in for a canyon-carving driving experience.

Safety and More on the RC

A Lexus is built to be safe. Active safety features include a Pre-Collision System with Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, Lane Departure Alert, a backup camera, Intuitive Parking Assist, Blind Spot Monitor with Rear Cross-Traffic Alert and Smart Stop Technology. To further enhance these technologies, Lexus Enform Safety Connect is available to connect with Lexus if an issue arises with the RC. Enform can also be monitored through a smartphone with its own app.  Pricing for the RC lineup starts at $40,640 for the RC 300 with rear-wheel drive. The RC F is priced from $64,650.
