What is Lexus L/Certified and Should You Consider It?

If you have visited Lexus of Henderson, you may have seen the term “L/Certified” and didn’t know what it meant or what it could mean to you. L/Certified is the name for the Lexus Certified Pre-Owned vehicle program, and knowing more about it just might put you in a nicer Lexus than you thought possible. The award-winning L/Certified program allows you to purchase a recent-model Lexus at a used-car price but without the used-car worry.

L/Certified models are recent Lexus models that have been taken back to the dealership. Most of these models have returned to Lexus of Henderson after their lease has run out, though some may have been owned and traded in.  Either way, the requirements for a L/Certified model are:

• A Lexus model that is no more than six model years old
• Be for sale by a Lexus dealer
• Must have less than 80,000 miles
• Pass a 161-point inspection and reconditioning program by Lexus-trained technicians

The inspection and reconditioning program is your assurance that there is not a problem with the vehicle that you can’t see. It is a comprehensive inspection that includes the engine, exterior, interior, electronics, safety devices, and undercarriage, followed by a road test. Our technicians focus on the details, right down to the first aid kit, spare tire, and glove box light.

Warranty Coverage

Most importantly, we back up our certification with a robust warranty program. When combined with the new new-vehicle Basic Warranty, can provide up to six years of vehicle warranty coverage with no mileage limit. Lexus models are covered for repair or replacement of components that fail under normal use due to a defect in materials or workmanship. There is no deductible. This warranty covers any repair or replacement of components that fail under normal use due to a defect in materials or workmanship, such as engine, transmission, steering, brakes (excluding rotors and pads), fuel system, cooling, A/C and heating systems, electrical, and restraint systems. The warranty is provided by Lexus itself and thus is honored at any authorized Lexus dealership.

Complementary Maintenance

Fortunately, nothing has to go wrong for you to enjoy L/Certified benefits as each L/Certified owner is entitled to a 2-year/ 20,000 complimentary maintenance program, including service internals every 5,000 miles or 6 months by Lexus of Henderson or any other Lexus dealer. 

Roadside Assistance, Towing, and Travel Protection

Should something go wrong, Lexus has your back with 24-hour roadside assistance for two years after your L/Certified purchase or beyond the new vehicle warranty, whichever comes later.  If the problem can not be resolved on-site, your vehicle will be towed free of charge to the nearest authorized Lexus dealer. If it takes more than 8 hours to repair, and you are over 100 miles from home, Lexus will provide overnight lodging and meals up to a maximum of three nights (up to $200 per night) and provide substitute transportation up to a maximum of five days.
