WHAT’S NEW: 2024 LEXUS RX

The RX line was completely redesigned for the 2023 model year, and changes for 2024 are evolutionary. The exception is the major addition of the RX 450h+ Plug-in Hybrid Electric to the lineup.  Another change is the availability of Advanced Park with Remote Park capability on several RX grades.

RX450h+: Two Drivetrains for Two Different Uses

The RX 450h+ is the first-ever plug-in hybrid model for the RX line.  Using essentially the same drivetrain as the RX 350h but with a larger battery, the RX 450h+ can be plugged into a regular household socket in the evening and be fully charged the next morning. At that point, the RX 450h+ is ready for an estimated 37 miles of EV operation, depending on the type of driving.  That can be enough to cover many drivers’ daily commute or daily household errands, resulting in a vehicle that can operate as an EV and doesn’t need a drop of gas until a longer trip beckons.  At that point, the vehicle can go on cross-country trips as a normal, efficient hybrid with no charging necessary. 

The RX 450h+ will be available in the Luxury grade. Like the RX 350h, the RX 450h+ gas engine will power the front wheels while the rear-mounted electric motor powers the rear wheel, resulting in a very effective AWD.  The engine and motor combine for a total of 304 horsepower, making it the second most powerful RX model, next to the RX500h F-Sport Performance.

New Parking Assistance

Available on Premium+, Luxury, F SPORT Handling, and F SPORT Performance, the Advance Park system can help with perpendicular parking/exiting and parallel parking/exiting. Four Parallel View Monitor (PVM) cameras and 12 ultrasonic sensors provide visual data to support the automatic control of steering, accelerator, brake, and shift operations. Remote Park offers the added convenience of smartphone operation via the Lexus app. Lexus key fob required for use.

Cloudburst Gray is added as an available exterior color on all 2024 RX grades, and Copper Crest is now available on Premium and F SPORT Handling grades. Overall, the 2024 RX offers 10 exterior colors with choices varying by grade: Ultra White, Eminent White Pearl, Iridium, Caviar, Matador Red Mica, Copper Crest, Nori Green Pearl, Nightfall Mica, Grecian Water, and the new Cloudburst Gray. The six interior colors of trim decor are unchanged and also vary by grade.  Colors include Macadamia, Black, Birch, Palomino, Peppercorn, and Rioja Red. The trim decor choices include: Black Cascade, Ash Bamboo, Black Open Pore, and Dark Graphite Aluminum.

All the other great changes from 2023 carry over to the 2024  RX and RX Hybrid model lines.  A close look makes clear the first-ever luxury crossover is still the best. The RX 450h+ can be expected to arrive at Lexus of Henderson late in the 2023 calendar year.
