4.6 Seconds

It takes 4.6 seconds to glance at a text message while driving. At 55 MPH, that would cover the same distance of a football field at one of our high schools across Southern Nevada, while driving with your eyes closed.
Think about that for a moment.
Distracted driving was the reason why 3,142 lives were lost in 2019, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Sending a text or reading one was considered the biggest cause of these accidents.
Lexus takes this very seriously. We want our vehicles driven by those who care about driving to not get distracted by anything coming from your device that can wait.
Please watch the following video to understand why Lexus is serious about reversing the trend away from distracted driving.
In this video, Lexus demonstrates what happens when you take your eyes off the road while sending a text while driving. A specially modified Lexus, called the NX 4.6, was used to show exactly the result of distracted driving. That result is pure chaos.
In the real world, there would be a collision between you and the vehicle in front of you.
Let’s be honest. The driver assistance systems on board your Lexus will not save a distracted driver when they are engaged with other activities other than driving. If your Lexus is equipped with smartphone integration for your Apple or Android device, you can hear your text read back to you without actually reading it from your device. To reply, use the handsfree function with voice recognition to do so.
You can do all of this while keeping your eyes on the road. However, we also suggest waiting until you are fully parked to hear and reply to those precious texts.
At Lexus of Henderson, we believe a happy driver is a safe one. One free of distraction. Contact us so we can show you solutions to keep you a satisfied and alert driver.
