Lexus has been working on a new technology that will enhance the drive whether it is a hybrid or a full electric vehicle. They call it DIRECT4.

DIRECT4 is a core electrified technology being developed by Lexus to achieve unique dynamic performance, based on the Lexus Driving Signature. This is specifically designed for future hybrid and electric models that will be coming in the next several years.

The basis of this technology is where the delivery of electric control to all four wheels is done instantly and intelligently. The system takes in consideration driving conditions and driver engagement behaviors.

This system goes beyond just efficiency. Since it will drive both front and rear wheels, DIRECT4 is also designed for maximum traction. The sum of its all-wheel-drive architecture is the ability to quickly change the balance between front and rear wheels – even when a 50/50 split is necessary on certain road conditions.

Design and engineering of the DIRECT4 system will assist in creating more dynamic and exciting new vehicles. You will see more of a progression on the signature design of all Lexus models with this exciting new drive technology system.
