Remember to #GiveAmazing this December to Remember
It’s been twenty years since Lexus started its “December to Remember” sales event, and the time is upon us again. What many people don’t realize, however, is that Lexus was the trailblazer in holiday marketing, especially in the automotive industry. Prior to 1999, the big red bows on vehicles in commercials and the focus on giving were simply not how car makers advertised, as the main focus was just discounts and “pushing cars off the lot.” Since then, the Lexus December to Remember Sales Event has become ubiquitous and many more companies (not just automotive) have followed suit in connecting with their audiences focusing less on sales and more on what matters most — memories being made with loved ones.
This year’s December to Remember campaign once again features the iconic red bow, as well as simply the excitement of giving, You’ve probably already seen the playful new ad spots, but just in case you haven’t, here’s one of a family trying to hide it from their dad:
But the reality is that not everyone can afford a Lexus. And that’s okay. The spirit of the season is less about giving material objects and more about giving acts of kindness. Things that money simply can’t buy. This year, Lexus is encouraging people to give more from the heart and less from the pocketbook. Whether it’s holding the door open for a stranger, making a homemade meal for a loved one, or writing a song for someone special, we want to hear about it. We want you to Give Amazing.
For every act of kindness shared on social media with the #GiveAmazing hashtag between now and January 2nd, Lexus will make a $10 donation to Boys & Girls Clubs of America, a very important national organization of local chapters that provides after-school programs for young people. A minimum donation of $50,000 guaranteed, with a total amount of up to $100,000.
And believe us, we’re keeping track. At https://lexus.com/giveamazing you can see all the wonderful things people are doing for others all over the world by using the hashtag #GiveAmazing in real time.
Also at the Give Amazing site, you’ll be able to watch a couple short, 5-6 minute videos of examples of real life people using their natural-born talent to give from the heart.
This one is about an artist who was so inspired by a woman he had only followed online who shared her battle with Cystic Fibrosis that he reached out to her and offered to paint her portrait. But we warn you — you’re probably going to need some Kleenex.
The best gifts aren’t anything you can buy, they’re things you do to show others how much you care about them. Give kindness this season, and share with us how you #GiveAmazing both online and in person. Stop into Lexus of Henderson any time just to talk to us about the nice things you’ve been doing lately or that someone has done for you. At the same time, you’ll be able to take a look at our showroom of brand new models, and even take a test drive (though it’s not necessary to schedule one), especially if you’re thinking about surprising someone with a big red bow this year. We’re looking forward to sharing the holiday cheer!
